Rawtenstall Walk

On fine and sunny Easter Saturday a small group of us took on the sponsored walk to Rawtenstall. Setting off from the Art Picture House at 9.15am, we made our way up Walmersley Road to Rawtenstall,

stopping off on route for refreshments at the farm shop.

After another stop to sample the real ales at the Whitchaff, we arrived at Rawtenstall Station,

before setting off on a more scenic journey home

and some more sampling of real ales.

Nominations Open for Forever Bury Representaive on Club Board

Following Margaret’s resignation, nominations are being sort from all eligible (those who have served a minimum 12 months on the Forever Bury Board), members to replace her on the club board. Nomination forms can be downloaded here, picked up from the cabin or by requesting one via email from the secretary, susan.tunstall@btinternet.com . Completed forms should be returned to the secretary via email or to our postal address by Friday 22nd March 2013. If more than one nomination is received an election will take place.

Margaret Ladkin Resigns Both the Club and Forever Bury Boards

Statement from Margaret Ladkin, Fans Liaison Director
It is with deep regret that I have had to hand in my resignation to the Bury FC Board of Directors and also to the Forever Bury Board.
I’ve recently been ill and have been advised by doctors to take things easy.
I would like at this time to say a special thanks to Brian Fenton, Jill Neville and all the directors for their help and support over the last somewhat difficult few years.
I would also like to thank all staff at Gigg Lane for their support, also Dave Giffard and Forever Bury, and Terry Robinson.
I will continue to support Bury FC in any way I can in the future.
Thank you as well to all supporters for your support during my tenure. Please carry on supporting the Shakers as much as you can

Margaret Ladkin

The Forever Bury Board would like to thank Margaret for all her hard work she has done. In her early years with Forever Bury, Margaret was primarily involved in organising The Car Boot and Fun Day Events, along with husband Roy (not forgetting Muriel, Flo and Jim). Following her appointment as a Football Club Director, Margaret has performed her duties as a link between Club and Trust with distinction, and we are grateful for her efforts. We wish Margaret, and Roy all the very best for the future

Soul and Motown Night

On Friday 1st March 2013 at 7.30pm, the Bury FC Social Club will be hosting a Soul and Motown Night. Tickets cost £4 and are available from the social club and the ticket office/main reception at the football club.

Fans’ Representative Statement December 2012

First of all I’d like to say a big thank-you to everyone who has taken the time to write to us with their ideas, suggestions and comments over the last few months. I did receive the list of questions for November, but unfortunately there was a death in the family, which meant the responses were more vague than yourselves, and I, would have preferred.

Into December, and there are only a couple of items to respond to. Please do keep your comments and ideas coming to me, I can’t help or act on anything if there is nothing to respond to.

Q1 – Can you please find out what’s happening regarding the heating in the Social Club? We like to go in after games to chew over match events with other fans. However, it’s freezing in there, the boiler apparently being in need of repair. This needs sorting pronto. It’s insulting to expect fans to put up with freezing conditions. It will drive custom away.

A1 – This was sent at a time when the boiler had broken. It was unfortunate that there was a fault with the boiler which affected the heating for our fans, and the issue couldn’t be resolved until after a home game. We acted quickly to sort the issue out and ended up fitting a new boiler which should also help on running costs as the old boiler was a coal fired boiler installed in 1965 and converted to gas in the 70’s. I hope by now everyone is happy with the heating in the club.

Q2 – Next seasons’ kits designed by local schoolkids?

A2 – This is an idea that has been brought up many times in the past. Any ideas that involve schoolkids and can help boost our name in the wider community is certainly something that should be looked at. Kids are our future fan base, and we should be looking to tap into that wherever possible. I will certainly be speaking to Peter and Laura in the Commercial department about this, and I’m sure they will in turn speak to Surridge about the idea and gauge their reaction on it too.

Everyone at the club was angered by the FA’s decision to support Bradford City’s appeal against their expulsion from the FA Cup. We have no problem with Bradford City or their appeal but feel totally let down by the FA and feel victimised by their inconsistency. We wrote to the FA to register our disgust but as yet we have not received a reply.
